IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) also known as Photofacial treatment, delivers broadband light through the skin for complete rejuvination. IPL helps restore a youthful looking glow to photo aged or sun damaged skin by decreasing facial redness, lessening the appearance of pigmented spots, reducing pore size, improving texture and decreasing fine lines.

Considerations

This procedure may be a good fit for you if you struggle with rosacea, acne rosacea, red flushed skin tone due to blood vessels and capillary damage, sun damaged skin, pigmented facial spots and/or enlarged pores.

This procedure may not be a good fit for highly pigmented skin tones or recently tanned skin. This treatment can contribute to minor hair loss so this procedure may not want to be considered where regular facial hair grows. Detailed Procedural Info

IPL delivers high intensity pulses of broadband light that is non-ablative. The surface of the skin remains undamaged while the deeper, dermis layers receive intense light therapy.

What to Expect

During treatment, a cool gel is applied to the treated area. Then, a pulse of light is emitted from the handpiece. Generally, no local anesthetic is required as most individuals tolerate the treatment well. After the session you may have some redness and sensations similar to a sunburn for the remainder of the day.

Patients usually undergo a series of 3 to 4 IPL treatments, each administered 3 to 4 weeks apart. Each treatment session takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the size and nature of treated areas.
